TEGUCIGALPA, Aug 3 (NNN-XINHUA) — At least four people died and many others were injured during a bus crash on a highway that connects to the South of Honduras, the Fire Department said.
The bus overturned Friday on the hillside of Moramulca, some 53 kilometers from Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, according to preliminary reports.
The injured were taken to the state-run Teaching Hospital of Tegucigalpa by Red Cross’s paramedics arrived at the scene.
This year, more than 300 people have died in road accidents in Honduras, most of which were caused by distractors like mobile phones, according to the National Highway and Transport Authority.
Road accidents are the second leading cause of deaths in Honduras after homicides. In 2018, 1,597 people were killed by road accidents. — NNN-XINHUA
