Qatar, Iraq Discuss Stronger Security Cooperation

DOHA, Qatar, Aug 1 (NNN-QNA) – Qatari Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, on Wednesday, discussed with visiting Iraqi Interior Minister, Yasin al-Yaseri, means to boost security cooperation.

Sheikh Abdullah received the Iraqi interior minister and his delegation, currently on a visit to Doha, and reviewed the course of cooperation between the two countries, the Qatari Interior Ministry tweeted.

Yaseri’s visit to Doha follows a visit he had paid, on Tuesday, to Kuwait, where he and Kuwaiti officials had talks about security coordination between the two sides.

The meetings coincide with tension overshadowing the region, as the U.S. and Britain are working on deploying naval forces, to protect navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, in the aftermath of Iran’s seizure of a British oil tanker, claimed to have violated navigation laws.– NNN-QNA
