Bolivia ratifies commitment to struggle against human trafficking

LA PAZ, July 31 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — Bolivia’s President, Evo Morales, ratified on Tuesday his Government”s commitment to take extreme efforts in preventing human trafficking, supporting and assisting victims and punishing the guilty.

‘On World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we reaffirm our commitment to take extreme efforts in preventing this scourge, supporting and assisting victims as well as punishing the guilty. We will continue struggling against any threat to rights and freedoms,’ Morales live-tweeted.

The United Nations stated that human trafficking is a crime that uses women, children and men for numerous purposes, including forced labor and sexual exploitation.

Such a contravention is seen in the transport, transfer, reception, or reception of individuals under threat or use of force or any other forms of coercion.

Bolivia is part of the Palermo Protocol to prevent, suppress and punish human trafficking, especially women and children, which complements the Convention of such a Protocol against Transnational Organized Crime, to which Bolivia became member in 2006. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
