Indian Police Recovers Body Of Founder Of India’s Popular Coffee Chain

NEW DELHI, India, July 31 (NNN-PTI) – Body of the founder of popular coffee chain – Cafe Coffee Day, V.G. Siddhartha, who went missing, was found today, in India’s south-western state of Karnataka, police said.

He was found in the Netravati river, in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, after 36 hours of search. His body was fished out from the backwaters of the river.

Siddhartha went missing on Monday evening, from Mangaluru, about 375 km west of Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka.

According to reports, a massive search and rescue operation started on Tuesday, to look for Siddhartha, who was instrumental in popularising Indian coffee worldwide.

Siddhartha was the son-in-law of former Chief Minister of Karnataka, S.M. Krishna.

He was among the country’s largest exporters of coffee bean, and his family has been in the coffee-growing business for more than 130 years.– NNN-PTI
