ISTANBUL, Turkey, July 24 (NNN-ANADOLU) – The death toll has risen to five, from the flash floods that hit north-western Turkey last week, as two more bodies were found on Tuesday, Turkey’s minister of environment and urbanisation said.
“The search and rescue operation is continuing to find the remaining two missing children,” Murat Kurum told reporters, at the scene.
Earlier in the day, rescue teams recovered the bodies of a woman and her daughter, who were listed as missing.
The minister said, a total of 475 buildings were damaged in the province, while 66 others are facing a potential collapse.
According to press reports, over 200 people have been rescued from the area, which was hit by heavy rainfalls last Wednesday that triggered landslides and flash floods.
