CAIRO, Egypt, July 23 (NNN-MENA) – The Arab League denounced Israel’s demolition of scores of Palestinian houses in East Jerusalem.
In a statement, Saeed Abu Ali, Arab League’s assistant secretary general for Palestine affairs and occupied Arab territories, said, this serious escalation comes as part of Israel’s incessant and systematised aggression against the Palestinian people.
Its the worst episode of Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people for decades, he noted, as these buildings are constructed in Area (A), which should be under the control of the Palestinian Authority, under the 1993 Oslo Agreement.
Abu Ali called upon the international community, especially the UN Security Council and the International Court of Justice, to hold “Israel accountable for its crimes and put an end to its violations of Palestinians’ rights.”
Israel began a massive house demolition of 10 Palestinian residential buildings, in Wadi Hummus area of East Jerusalem’s Sur Baher town.
Under the interim Oslo Agreement, signed between the Palestine Liberation Organisation and the Israeli government in 1993, the West Bank was divided into three areas: Area (A) under Palestinian control, Area (B) under Palestinian and Israeli control and Area (C) under full Israeli control.– NNN-MENA
