HANOI, April 23 (Bernama-Xinhua) — Foreign passengers and overseas Vietnamese entering Vietnam on visas through Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City are required to complete an electronic declaration before immigration procedures from April 15, in a move aimed at speeding up the clearance process, according to the Vietnam News Agency on Thursday, reported Xinhua.
The Vietnam Immigration Department under the Public Security Ministry said the move is part of efforts to modernise immigration management and enhance service quality, replacing manual processing with a digital system that allows authorities to obtain passenger data in advance, according to the report.
Passengers are advised to complete the declaration using mobile devices or computers, providing personal details, flight information and the purpose of entry.
Upon submission, a QR code is issued and must be presented at immigration counters for clearance. Vietnamese citizens travelling on Vietnamese passports, as well as transit passengers who do not enter the country, are exempt from the requirement, the report added.
