CAIRO, April 21 (dpa) - Qatar has called on Iran and the United States to end their conflict as a two-week ceasefire approaches its expiration.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said on Tuesday that the war had placed the region, the global economy and energy markets in a "very dangerous place."
Al-Ansari declined to comment on the possibility of talks failing, saying "the whole world supports these negotiations and the Pakistani efforts."
He added that Qatar remains hopeful and is advocating at least an extension of the current ceasefire if no immediate agreement can be reached.
US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he would send another delegation for negotiations to Islamabad, though it remains unclear whether a new round of talks will take place.
Iran has not yet sent any representatives to Pakistan, according to state television.
Trump has said the ceasefire will expire on Wednesday evening Washington time, which would fall in the early hours of Thursday in Iran.
