Tabung Haji personnel get ready in Jeddah to welcome M’sian Haj pilgrims

KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 (NNN-BERNAMA) — With more than 30,000 Malaysian pilgrims set to perform their Haj in Mecca over the coming weeks, a group of 151 Tabung Haji (TH) personnel have already arrived in Jeddah to do the necessary logistics to welcome the pilgrims there.

A statement from TH today said a group of 151 of its personnel arrived at the King Abdul Aziz Airport in Jeddah on Thursday to start making preparations to welcome the Malaysians who would be arriving there in about a week’s time.

The group would be working together with another group of 13 personnel who had left on June 23rd .

“They form part of the 640 personnel who would look after the needs of the haj pilgrims during the haj season this year. The other group of personnel would arrive in stages with the haj pilgrims beginning July 4.

“The TH personnel who had arrived in the “ihram” attire had performed their “umrah” before moving to their respective sectors in Mecca and Madinah on Friday, June 28,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, it is still a little quiet in Mecca and Madinah as the haj pilgrims from around the world are expected to start entering the holy city of Islam and Madinah in stages beginning July 4 or Zulkaedah 1.

The weather during the haj season this year is expected to be hot with current temperature having reached between 32 and 47 degrees Celsius. This is expected to present one of the challenges for the 30,200 Malaysian haj pilgrims while performing their haj rituals, the statement said.

TH is providing 62 chartered flights ferrying the Malaysian pilgrims until Aug 4, 2019. The wukuf is expected to be on Zulhijjah 9 which is equivalent to August 10.
