KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait, June 29 (NNN-KUNA) – Representatives of the UN Security Council (UNSC), are on an official visit to Kuwait, to discuss Kuwaiti-Iraqi relations.
This is the first visit by UNSC members to Kuwait, it was quoted, Kuwaiti Permanent Representative to the UN, Mansour al-Otaibi, as saying.
They will discuss the issues of Kuwaiti and third-party’s missing persons, during the 1990-1991 Gulf War, including the return of their properties, Otaibi said.
They will also follow up the outcome of the 2018 Kuwait International Conference, for the Reconstruction of Iraq (ICRC) held in Kuwait, he added.
“We hope this visit would give the UN Security Council members an idea, on how relations between Kuwait and Iraq have evolved,” the Kuwaiti official said.
On June 20, a joint statement by the ICRC-affiliated Tripartite Commission, announced the recovery of human remains in southern Iraq, offering hope for families of the missing people, during the 1990-1991 Gulf War.– NNN-KUNA
