Station to alert on any potential chemical disaster to be built in Pasir Gudang

PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia, June 28 (NNN-BERNAMA) — A total of 748 people had sought treatment for breathing difficulties in the past one week following the latest water pollution incident in Pasir Gudang.

While the factors causing the pollution has been put to rest, the area will continue to be monitored, said Malaysia’s Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad during a joint press conference here with Minister of Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Yeo Bee Yin.

At the press conference, Yeo Bee Yin also announced that plans were underway to build a station that will alert on any potential chemical disaster in Pasir Gudang.

Yeo said there were a total of 250 chemical based factories in Pasir Gudang currently. She also added that the area had been developed in a non-sustainable manner.
