AMMAN, Jordan, June 26 (NNN-PETRA) – King Abdullah II of Jordan, on Tuesday, urged efforts to reach just and lasting peace in the Middle East, based on the two-state solution.
The King made the remarks, during a meeting with visiting EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, where he said, the two-state solution should lead to the creation of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The meeting discussed relations between the EU and Jordan, and developments in the Middle East.
Also Tuesday, Jordanian Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, met with the EU official.
The minister highlighted the importance of the EU’s efforts, in overcoming regional crises and sustaining security and stability.
Safadi voiced appreciation for the EU’s support for a two-state solution, as the only way to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and establish comprehensive peace.
The EU official underlined EU’s appreciation of Jordan’s efforts in boosting regional security and stability.– NNN-PETRA
