BRASILIA, April 19 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will present the National System for the Registration of Domestic Animals (Sinpatinhas), a tool created to register dogs and cats in a database.
The registration is free of charge and will provide a unique and non-transferable identifier, which will accompany the animal throughout its life.
Once registered, the guardians will be able, in addition to knowing the location of their pet in case of loss, to receive information on public campaigns for sterilization, vaccination and microchipping in their region, facilitating access to animal care and welfare services.
The launching of the program will take place in a ceremony at the Planalto Palace, headquarters of the Executive Power in this capital city.
In addition to SinPatinhas, the President will sign the decree instituting the National Program for the Protection and Ethical Population Management of Dogs and Cats (Propatinhas).
According to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, responsible for managing the initiatives, these represent “a milestone in protecting and guaranteeing the welfare of dogs and cats throughout the national territory”. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
