More Kenyans repatriated from Thailand arrive this afternoon

Authorities from Thailand, China, and Myanmar in February dismantled scam centers along the Thai-Myanmar border

NAIROBI, April 5 (NNN-KBC) — More Kenyans repatriated from Thailand are set to jet into the country on Saturday afternoon.

A multi-agency team, led by the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, will receive the group at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 12:30 p.m.

“Principal Secretary Ms. Roseline K. Njogu, and other officials from the multiagency team will be present to receive the returnees”, said a statement from the department.

Their return follows the recent arrival of 48 other Kenyans who were rescued by the government from Myanmar.

In recent years, hundreds of Kenyans have fallen victim to an elaborate human trafficking syndicate disguised as lucrative job offers in Thailand.
