Pilot Error Caused Sri Lanka Air Force Training Plane Crash, Investigation Reveals

COLOMBO, Mar 25 (NNN-XINHUA) – The recent crash of a Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) training aircraft, was attributed to a pilot error, Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, Bimal Rathnayake told reporters, yesterday.

He stated that, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, commander of the SLAF, had established a special investigation committee, to examine the incident, and their report showed that the aircraft and its engines were in good condition prior to the crash.

The minister expressed relief that the two pilots involved escaped without serious injuries.

The aircraft crashed on Friday morning, in Wariyapola, located in the country’s North Western Province, during a routine training exercise.– NNN-XINHUA
