Over 1.5 Million Stimulant Tablets Seized In Central Myanmar

YANGON, Mar 23 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar’s authorities seized over 1.5 million stimulant tablets in the central region of Myanmar, the state-owned daily, The Mirror, reported today.

Acting on a tip-off, the anti-narcotic police searched two vehicles in Pyigyidagun township of Mandalay, on Mar 14, and seized 1.01 million stimulant tablets.

Authorities seized an additional 500,000 stimulant tablets in the same township a day later, the report said.

The seized drugs had an estimated street value of over 2.2 billion kyats (about 1.05 million U.S. dollars), it added.

Investigations revealed that, the drugs would be carried to Sagaing region, from Shan state, it said.

The suspects involved in the cases were charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, it added.– NNN-MNA
