DODOMA (Tanzania), March 23 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — IN a significant move to enhance disaster preparedness and response, the government has officially launched the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative, with a budget allocation of 528.9m/-.

The colourful launch event took place in Dodoma and was officiated by the Deputy Minister for Works, David Kihenzile, who stressed the importance of timely and accurate information in mitigating the impacts of natural disasters.

The EW4All initiative aims to establish a comprehensive early warning system that will provide critical information to communities at risk of various hazards, including floods, droughts and other climate-related events.

This initiative is part of Tanzania’s broader strategy to enhance resilience against climate change and improve disaster risk management across the country.

During the launch, Deputy Minister Kihenzile underscored the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property through proactive measures.

“The EW4All initiative is a vital step towards ensuring that our communities are well-informed and prepared for potential disasters. By investing in early warning systems, we are not only protecting our citizens but also promoting sustainable development,” he stated.

The initiative will involve the integration of advanced technology and local knowledge to create a robust network of alerts and information dissemination.

It will also focus on training local communities and stakeholders to effectively respond to warnings and take necessary precautions. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
