Uzbekistan, Russia To Boost Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation

TASHKENT, Mar 15 (NNN-UzA) – Uzbek President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with Chairman of the Russian State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, yesterday, with a willingness to expand cooperation between their parliaments.

Mirziyoyev and Volodin addressed the current issues affecting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia during their meeting, according to a statement from the Uzbek president’s press service.

The statement noted that, particular attention was paid to expanding inter-parliamentary interaction, and following up on the agreements reached during Russian President, Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Uzbekistan last May.

“The leader of our country supported the importance of thorough preparation for the second session of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission and its organisation in Uzbekistan,” with the two countries’ involvement, the press service said.

The statement also stressed the need for parliaments to accelerate priority projects in trade, economic and investment cooperation.

Joint programmes in labour migration and cultural and humanitarian exchange, were also noted, it said.– NNN-UzA
