Vietnam Welcomed Over 3.9 Million Int’l Arrivals In Two Months

HANOI, Mar 9 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam welcomed over 3.9 million international arrivals in the first two months of this year, an increase of 30.2 percent year-on-year, local media reported, yesterday, citing the General Statistics Office.

During the period, foreign arrivals in Vietnam by air reached nearly 3.4 million, accounting for 85.7 percent of the total, followed by road with roughly 467,200 (11.8 percent) and sea routes with 99,400 (2.5 percent).

Most of the arrivals were from Asia with over three million, surging 34.7 percent year-on-year, according to the report.

The Chinese market showed a massive growth at 77.8 percent, while some other markets saw steady increases, such as South Korea, which grew 4.9 percent, the United States by 15.7 percent and Japan by 37.3 percent.

Travel and tourism revenue in the first two months was estimated at 14.1 trillion Vietnamese dong (nearly 551.7 million U.S. dollars), up 16.4 percent compared to last year.– NNN-VNA
