Sri Lanka To Develop 100 New Tourist Attractions

COLOMBO, Mar 6 (NNN-XINHUA) – The Sri Lankan government has identified 100 new locations as tourist attractions, and plans to invest one billion rupees (3.4 million U.S. dollars) in developing basic infrastructure in these areas, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ruwan Ranasinghe said yesterday.

As part of the Clean Sri Lanka national programme, which aims to promote a morally and environmentally sustainable nation, Sri Lanka will also establish visitor centres this year, he said.

Tourism is a key source of foreign revenue for Sri Lanka. The country is aiming for three million tourist arrivals this year, according to government statements.– NNN-XINHUA
