DAR ES SALAAM, March 4 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — THE Minister of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi, has officially launched the Journalists’ Accreditation Board, which has been awaited since 2016.
The board aims to assist journalists in addressing their professional challenges and disputes before they reach the courts.
The launch event took place in Dar es Salaam, bringing together various representatives from the media sector in the country.
Speaking at the event, Kabudi emphasized that the board is a crucial step in strengthening journalistic professionalism, promoting accountability, protecting journalists’ rights, and ensuring they have an avenue to resolve their issues through fair and professional means.
The event was attended by media stakeholders, journalists, and representatives from various institutions involved in the country’s media sector.
Meanwhile, starting this year, journalists in Tanzania will be issued digital press cards as part of a government initiative aimed at improving the media industry.
During a session with the Tanzania Editors Forum (TEF), the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports and Government Spokesperson, Gerson Msigwa, said the digital press card will be issued by the Media Council’s Accreditation Board.
Journalists can apply by entering their details into the system and once their identity is verified, they will receive their cards,” Msigwa said.
The digital press cards will feature a QR code, allowing journalists to be easily identified anywhere, even internationally. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
