Laos To Improve Healthcare Quality For Nurses, Midwives

VIENTIANE, Mar 1 (NNN-) — The Lao Ministry of Health is working to improve healthcare quality and professional development for nurses and midwives.

The ministry has introduced a Continuing Professional Development system for nurses and midwives, requiring them to renew their professional licenses every five years.

This system will help them upgrade their skills through activities, such as training, education, and research, according to the ministry’s report, yesterday.

The system is designed to enhance clinical competencies, ensure high-quality care, and support Laos’ goals for universal health coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals.– NNN-KPL
