LIMA, March 1 (NNN-XINHUA) — At least six people died in a multiple vehicle crash that occurred Thursday night on the North Pan-American Highway in the Peruvian province of Huaral, said the local media.
The state news agency Andina reported the accident occurred at kilometer 77 of the highway, where a minivan of the Huascaran tourism company crashed into a trailer loaded with firewood, and was later hit in the back by another truck carrying bags of lemon.
The minivan was destroyed and trapped between the two cargo vehicles. The occupants were members of a family returning to the city of Lima.
The drivers of the cargo vehicles, who were under investigation by authorities, said the lack of lighting and signs on the road could have been a determining factor in the accident. — NNN-XINHUA
