Extortion Gang Detained In Southern Kazakhstan

ALMATY, Mar 1 (NNN-KNA) – Law enforcement authorities in southern Kazakhstan, dismantled a criminal group engaged in extortion, local media reported yesterday, citing the regional police department’s press service.

As a result of an operation, seven individuals were arrested in the Tulkibas district, including followers of extremist religious movements and members of marginalised youth groups. Among them, two were brothers.

During searches of the suspects’ residences, police seized a smoothbore carbine, a knife, radios, casino chips, and religious literature. Additionally, a hidden stash containing two more smoothbore carbines was discovered in a workshop, owned by one of the detainees.

A criminal case has been launched against the suspects, who are now in custody. A pre-trial investigation is underway to determine the full extent of their criminal activities.– NNN-KNA
