BAGHDAD, Feb 26 (NNN-NINA) – Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, discussed yesterday, with a senior UN official, on strengthening cooperation, to advance shared efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Al-Sudani held a meeting with Rola Dashti, executive secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, during which they also discussed the support for Iraq’s financial and economic reform programmes, particularly in key economic and social priority areas, according to a statement from al-Sudani’s media office.
The prime minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment, to addressing poverty and unemployment, improving service delivery, and achieving tangible developmental progress.
He also highlighted the pivotal role of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, in driving sustainable development, stressing the need for collaboration with international organisations to harness these technologies, in support of Iraq’s economic reform efforts, the statement noted.– NNN-NINA
