Indonesia Accelerates Garlic Imports To Stabilise Prices Before Fasting Month

JAKARTA, Feb 25 (NNN-ANTARA) – Indonesia has accelerated the import of 35,600 tonnes of garlic, to stabilise prices, ahead of the fasting month of Ramadan, according to the Ministry of Trade, yesterday.

“The plan is for 21,000 tonnes to arrive in March and 14,600 tonnes in April,” said Tommy Andana, the ministry’s expert staff for business climate and market security.

The authorities also urged importers who have already imported garlic to distribute them immediately.

According to the National Food Agency, the stock of garlic in Indonesia is predicted to be adequate, except for the eastern region of the country.– NNN-ANTARA
