Man Airlifted To Hospital After Shark Attack Off Northeast Australian Coast

SYDNEY, Feb 23 (NNN-AAP) – A man has been airlifted to hospital, after being attacked by a shark, off Australia’s northeast coast.

The ambulance service in the state of Queensland said that, emergency services were called to reports of a shark attack at a beach on Moreton Island, a popular tourist destination, about 40 km off the coast of Brisbane, shortly after 3.00 p.m. local time, yesterday.

A 29-year-old man was treated at the scene for abdominal injuries and lacerations to his leg, before being flown to a Brisbane hospital in a stable condition, the Queensland Ambulance Service said.

David James, director of a holiday resort on the island, told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation that, he was thankful to hear the man was in a stable condition.

It was the fourth shark attack off the coast of Queensland during the current summer.– NNN-AAP
