KATHMANDU, Feb 21 (NNN-XINHUA) – Hundreds of fires happened in Nepal between mid-Jan and mid-Feb, claiming 22 lives and injuring 87 others, the Nepal Police reported, last night.
The 478 fire incidents also gutted 68 houses and 66 animal sheds, and left 247 animals dead, the police said in a monthly report, noting, “Properties worth 184.82 million rupees (1.34 million U.S. dollars) were destroyed in the fires.”
Most of the fires were reported in Koshi Province, followed by Bagmati Province, where the country’s capital is located.– NNN-XINHUA
