Russia: An-24 aircraft with technical malfunction lands safely in Yakutsk region

VLADIVOSTOK (Russia), Feb 18 (NNN-XINHUA) — An An-24 aircraft that previously reported a landing gear malfunction landed safely at Yakutsk Airport in Russia’s Far East region on Tuesday, TASS news agency quoted the Yakutia rescue service as saying.

The aircraft, operating an intercity flight from Yakutia Republic’s town of Olekminsk to the capital Yakutsk, initially encountered landing difficulties due to a technical problem. Emergency services had been placed on high alert in response.

“At 13:32 local time, the alert issued for the An-24’s landing gear malfunction was lifted. The aircraft has landed safely,” the rescue service said.

There were 34 passengers and five crew members on board. — NNN-XINHUA
