14 Dead In Two Separate Road Accidents In India

NEW DELHI, Feb 15 (NNN-PTI) – At least 14 people have died and around 27 were injured, in two separate road accidents in north India, confirmed the police today.

Ten persons died and nearly 19 were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in collided head-on with a bus, coming from the opposite direction, in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, near the Prayagraj district.

The mishap occurred on the Mirzapur-Prayagraj highway at around midnight.

The dead belonged to the central state of Chhattisgarh, and were heading towards Prayagraj to take the holy dip in “Triveni Sangam,” which is the confluence of three rivers namely Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati in Prayagraj district, during the ongoing spiritual festival “Maha Kumbh.”

The bus, carrying around 25 passengers, hailing from another central state of Madhya Pradesh, was coming from Prayagraj when the accident took place.

In another mishap, four persons died and eight others were seriously injured, in the western state of Gujarat, when their vehicle collided with a stationary bus late last night, in the Dahod district. Those injured were admitted to a local hospital.– NNN-PTI
