ASHGABAT, Feb 15 (NNN-SNA) – The supply of Turkmen natural gas to Türkiye will begin on March 1, through Iran, under a barter scheme, Turkmen media reported yesterday.
Türkiye and Turkmenistan signed an agreement on Turkmen gas supplies on Feb 10, between Turkish Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS) and Turkmengaz, Turkmenistan’s national gas company, regulating the terms of supply.
“This event is the result of years of negotiations and marks an important step in strengthening energy cooperation between the two countries. The agreement provides for the supply of up to two billion cubic metres of gas per year,” said Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Ahmet Demirok.
He emphasised that, this agreement plays a significant role in ensuring energy security, not only for Türkiye but for the entire region. The diplomat also stated that Turkmenistan has established itself as a reliable actor in the global energy market.– NNN-SNA
