ANKARA, Turkey, June 20 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkish police seized some 103 kilograms of heroin, in the eastern province of Van on Wednesday, local Hurriyet Daily News reported.
During an anti-drug operation in the Tusba district of the province, police found 204 packages of heroin, hidden in five boxes in a parked vehicle.
The owner of the vehicle was detained over links with illegal drug trafficking.
In a separate raid against narcotics in central Turkey’s Tokat province, some 2,558 ecstasy pills were seized by police. Four people were arrested.
According to official data, Turkish security forces have confiscated a total of 17.3 tonnes of heroin last year, detaining more than 1,500 suspects.– NNN-ANADOLU
