KATHMANDU, Feb 13 (NNN-XINHUA) – A school bus skidded off the highway, on the outskirts of Kathmandu last night, leaving three dead and 40 others injured, local police said.
The mishap occurred when the bus, carrying around 45 people, was returning to Kathmandu from a picnic in Nagarkot, a popular tourist destination, said Apil Raj Bohara, spokesman for Kathmandu District Police Range.
He said that, three students succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital, while teachers and other staff members were among the injured.
A preliminary study suggested that brake failure led to the accident, said Bohara.– NNN-XINHUA
