Australian Police Located Human Remains Inside Crocodile

SYDNEY, Feb 9 (NNN-AAP) – Police in the Australian state of Queensland announced yesterday that, human remains were located inside a crocodile, as part of the recovery of a 60-year-old man reported missing from Aurukun, in Far North Queensland.

Police and wildlife officers located and humanely euthanised the crocodile, along Watson River on Friday night. Forensic testing was carried out yesterday morning, with human remains located within the crocodile.

Further testing will be conducted to identify the remains, and the family of the missing man and the local council have been advised, according to the police.

Queensland Police announced on Feb 1 that, the man reported missing was last seen leaving his home at approximately midday on Jan 30, and had not been seen or heard from since. He is believed to have headed to the mouth of the Ward, Watson and Archer Rivers, to go fishing.

Police, State and Emergency Service volunteers, aerial assets, including a helicopter and drone, and a wildlife ranger deployed to the region to assist in search efforts.– NNN-AAP
