62 Kg Of Drugs Seized In Eastern Myanmar

YANGON, Feb 8 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar authorities seized 62 kg of ketamine, in eastern Myanmar’s Shan state, state-run daily, The Mirror, reported today.

Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched a vehicle in Kengtung township, in eastern Shan state, on Feb 3, and seized the drugs, the report said. A suspect in the car was also arrested, it added.

The confiscated drugs are approximately worth 520 million kyats (about 247,619 U.S. dollars), the report said. Investigations revealed that, the drugs came from Mongphen town, and were intended to be transported to the Myanmar-Thailand border area, in Tachileik township, it said.

The suspect has been charged under the country’s laws, and further investigations are ongoing, the report added.– NNN-MNA
