Ethiopia and India advocate for cooperating in defense sector

ADDIS ABABA, Feb 7 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Ethiopia and India stressed the importance of strengthening their long-standing relations through greater cooperation in the defense field, Fana Broadcasting Corporate informed on Thursday.

The deepening of ties focused a meeting between Ethiopian Ambassador to New Delhi, Fisseha Shawel, and Amitabh Prasad, Joint Secretary of India’s Defense Ministry.

Shawel and Prasad agreed on strengthening joint work in that sector.

In another meeting with Dammu Ravi, Secretary for Economic Relations at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, they addressed improving bilateral links and relations between India and Africa in light of the upcoming India-Africa Forum Summit.

Shawel assured both Indian officials of his country’s desire to work closely with India on bilateral relations.

The Ethiopia-India relations have existed for almost two millennia. Diplomatic relations were established at the level of legations in July 1948 after New Delhi’s independence. The relationship was raised to the ambassadorial level in 1952. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
