QUITO, Feb 7 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — The Coordinator for Peace, Sovereignty, Integration and Non-Interference (CPAZ) expressed its solidarity with Cuba on Thursday and demanded the return of the Guantanamo territory, illegally occupied by the United States for more than a century.

In a letter addressed to the Cuban ambassador to Ecuador, the organization stated that the US Naval Base in Guantanamo has become a symbol of repression and human rights violations, in addition to being used now to criminalize migrants.

The group affirmed that this territory belongs to the Cuban people by historical and sovereign right and must be returned immediately.

“We express our support for Cuba’s just demand for the return of the territory of Guantanamo, which has been illegally occupied and is now intended to be used to further criminalize migrants,” said the document, which was released on social media on Thursday.

The statement also rejected the economic blockade imposed by Washington, which has been reinforced with new measures in recent years.

The organization called on progressive and solidarity forces to remain alert and participate in campaigns to support the Caribbean island, such as the one promoted by the Ecuadorian Coordinator of Friendship and Solidarity with Cuba under the slogan “Cuba needs us.”

The CPAZ reaffirmed its commitment to Cuba and its Revolution, and noted that the Cuban people’s resistance will remain firm against any attempt at foreign aggression or interference. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
