Two Policemen Killed, Six Injured In Attack In NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Feb 6 (NNN-APP) – Two policemen were killed and six others injured, when terrorists attacked a police check post in Pakistan’s north-west Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, during the early hours of this morning, official sources confirmed.

The incident happened at about 2:00 a.m. local time (GMT 2100 Wednesday), in Karak district of the province, where the assailants, equipped with heavy weapons, opened fire at the police, sources from Karak police, said.

“The sudden and intense assault caught the security forces off guard, leading to the casualties,” the sources added.

The injured policemen have been shifted to a nearby hospital, where two of them are in critical condition, the sources said.

Following the attack, a large contingent of police arrived at the scene, cordoning off the area and launching a search operation to track down the perpetrators.

Security has been tightened across the area in the wake of the incident, the sources added.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.– NNN-APP
