NEW DELHI, Jan 28 (NNN-PTI) – At least two dead bodies were recovered, and 12 other persons were rescued alive, from under the debris of the 4-story building that had collapsed in north Delhi on Monday evening, confirmed a local police, today.
Both the dead were identified as girls aged seven and 17 years. A few more persons were still feared trapped under the debris, even as the rescue work continued.
The incident occurred in north Delhi’s Burari area, when the under-construction building, suddenly collapsed, thus trapping several persons under it.
Those injured were admitted to a local hospital for medical treatment.
The rescue work was carried out throughout the night, intervening Monday and Tuesday. Teams belonging to the National Disaster Response Force and the Delhi Disaster Management Authority were continuously engaged in the rescue work.
Delhi Chief Minister, Atishi Marlena, told media that, every possible assistance was being provided, to carry out the rescue work smoothly.– NNN-PTI
