TUNIS, Jan 23 (NNN-TAP) – Tunisian security forces have dismantled a drug trafficking network, operating in the northern suburbs of the capital, Tunis, and seized 17 slabs of cannabis, the General Directorate of National Security said, on its official Facebook page, yesterday.
The directorate said, security units received information indicating a drug dealer had hidden narcotics in a warehouse in the western Kram area.
Upon raiding the warehouse, security units discovered 17 slabs of cannabis and a sum of money. They also arrested accomplices involved in the drug distribution, including two women, the directorate said.
The Tunisian National Guard said, investigations were underway but provided no further details.
Following a review of the case, the public prosecution authorised the suspects’ detention, pending investigation.
The National Guard called on all citizens to cooperate with security services, by reporting any suspicious information or movements.
The Tunisian government has taken a strong stance against drug trafficking, arresting hundreds of individuals, involved in the crime during recent nationwide operations.– NNN-TAP
