Two Naxals Killed In Gunfight In India’s Jharkhand

NEW DELHI, Jan 23 (NNN-PTI) – Two Naxals were killed and two policemen wounded, in a fierce gunfight between them in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand, yesterday, police said.

The gunfight broke out in the forest area of Penk Narayanpur in Bokaro district.

Police said, the gunfight broke out after joint contingents of police and paramilitary forces cordoned off an area, on specific intelligence information, suggesting the presence of six Naxals.

The incident came a day after 16 Naxals were killed in a similar gunfight in adjacent Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district.

Currently, Naxals are active across central and eastern parts of India.– NNN-PTI
