Indonesia Targets Higher Exports At 7.1 Percent This Year

JAKARTA, Jan 21 (NNN-ANTARA) – Indonesia has set a higher target for export, up to 7.1 percent, this year, as an effort to boost its economic growth, said an official, yesterday.

“With the higher target of exports, we expect to support the economic growth of eight percent, as targeted by the president,” said Fajarini Puntodewi, director general of national export development, at Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade, in her speech at a public event in Jakarta.

Puntodewi said, the government was also preparing strategies to achieve the target, including strengthening domestic cooperation, so that business players could increase their products’ quality to be able to be exported.

Last year, Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of 31.04 billion U.S. dollars, with total export values reaching 264.7 billion dollars, according to Statistics Indonesia.– NNN-ANTARA
