MORONI (Comoros) Jan 19 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — THE Tanzanian Ambassador to the Comoros, Saidi Yakubu, has reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to deepening relations with the Comoros following successful initiatives in 2024.
Speaking with Comoros President Azali Assoumani at the State House in Moroni, Ambassador Yakubu outlined strategies for strengthening cooperation between the two nations in 2025.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Your Excellency and the government of the Comoros for the support extended to the Tanzanian Embassy in 2024.
This collaboration enabled us to fulfil our responsibilities effectively,” said Yakubu. He said that from May to December 2024, the Embassy facilitated several impactful initiatives.
These included the First Joint Permanent Commission Meeting held last July in Dar es Salaam, which resulted in the signing of key agreements.
Additionally, a Business and Investment Forum was organised to boost partnerships in agriculture, livestock and transport, creating opportunities for businesspeople and entrepreneurs from both countries.
“We aim to deepen cooperation in economic and social sectors, attract investors and strengthen partnerships between the private sectors of Tanzania and the Comoros,” Yakubu stated. The Ambassador also expressed Tanzania’s readiness to supply textbooks and resources to support Kiswahili education if incorporated into the Comorian curriculum.
President Assoumani commended the Embassy’s efforts in advancing collaboration, describing them as a testament to the strong ties between the two nations.
“The work done by the Tanzanian Embassy reflects the deeprooted bond between our peoples. The initiatives to enhance economic and social cooperation are truly commendable,” said Assoumani.
He encouraged the Embassy to continue attracting Tanzanian investors to expand their activities to the Comoros, fostering development in the process. On Kiswahili education, Assoumani described Tanzania as a genuine ally, noting that adopting Kiswahili would strengthen trade and communication between Comorian citizens and their Tanzanian counterparts.
“Tanzania has proven to be a true friend of the Comoros. My government is committed to enhancing collaboration in all areas, including Kiswahili education, which will connect our people even more closely,” he said.
The discussions between President Assoumani and Amb Yakubu underscored the shared commiment to advancing strategic cooperation. Both nations remain focused on creating opportunities for their citizens to explore productive ventures and share experiences across various sectors. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
