BISHKEK, Jan 4 (NNN-KNA) – Kyrgyzstan launched a sustainable tourism development programme, running till 2030, it was reported yesterday.
The programme aims to create favourable conditions for developing a competitive, sustainable and popular tourism sector, said the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
The programme includes nine priority areas to be addressed by 2030, which focus on optimising tourism policies, fostering a consumer market, digitising tourism services, ensuring industry safety, preserving cultural and natural heritage, developing regional and industry infrastructure, adopting green technologies, and promoting medical, sports and health tourism.
The programme’s key goals include placing Kyrgyzstan among the Top 50 countries, in the World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index, increasing tourism’s GDP share to seven percent, achieving 10 percent annual growth in tourist numbers, and scoring 70 points or more in the international mountain tourism safety rating.– NNN-KNA
