ALMATY, Jan 14 (NNN-XINHUA) – The retail trade in Kazakhstan saw a 9.8 percent rise from Jan to Dec last year, reaching a total of 22.445 trillion tenge (about 42.51 billion U.S. dollar), the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms said, yesterday.
Retail sales of goods by commercial enterprises increased by 3.9 percent. And the share of food products in the total volume of retail trade is 32.6 percent, the bureau said.
Retail activity last year was primarily concentrated in major urban centres. Almaty took the lead with 33.6 percent, followed by Astana at (13.2 percent), Karaganda (7.5 percent) and East Kazakhstan (5.7 percent).– NNN-XINHUA
