Kenya: 3 die in Malindi aircraft crash; 3 die in bus crash

NAIROBI, Jan 11 (NNN-KBC) — Three people have been confirmed dead after a light aircraft crashed moment after taking off at Kwachocha area near the Malindi international Airport.

Those who died included a woman who was hit by the propeller of the aircraft andtwo others who were near the accident scene.

Three occupants in the aircraft sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Malindi Tawfiq hospital in Malindi town.

Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro, Kilifi County Commander Joseph Ongaya Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi and Kaloleni MP Paul Katana are among those who arrived at the scene moment after the accident.

Mung’aro consoled with the family members who lost their loved ones and wished those who sustained injuries a quick recovery.

MEANWHILE, three people have died in a road accident along Londiani-Kisumu road involving a Dreamline bus traveling from Mombasa to Busia.

The bus, which was carrying 44 passengers, lost control while negotiating a bend and crashed, landing on its left side in the 4:20 AM Saturday morning accident.

41 passengers were injured and immediately rushed to Londian Sub-county Hospital for medical treatment. Many of the injured sustained serious injuries.

The driver of the bus has been apprehended for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. — NNN-KBC
