Four Killed In Northern Australian Car Crash

CANBERRA, Jan 8 (NNN-AAP) – Four people have been killed in a crash involving a stolen vehicle, in far north Australia.

Police in the Northern Territory (NT), said that, a gray vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle in the Yirrkala Community – 650 km east of Darwin, in the remote East Arnhem region – shortly after 7:15 a.m. local time today.

Emergency services were deployed to the scene of the crash, where four people were declared deceased – three from the gray car and one from the other vehicle.

A second occupant of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.

NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services (PFES), said in a statement that, the gray car was reported stolen from a residence, in the small town of Nhulunbuy – 14 km north-west of Yirrkala — at 6:45 a.m., and was reported to be driving dangerously shortly before the crash.

A crime scene has been established and a team from the major crash unit deployed to investigate the circumstances of the crash, NT PFES said.– NNN-AAP
