Tanzania, Japan pledge stronger partnership in trade, development

DAR ES SALAAM, Jan 6 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — TANZANIA and Japan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their bilateral ties and support for various development programmes between the two countries.

The commitment was expressed during a farewell visit by Japan’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Yasushi Misawa, to the office of Yusuph Mwenda, the Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).

Misawa emphasised the importance of continued collaboration in business and investment, stating: “We will maintain and enhance our partnership, working closely with TRA to boost economic ties.”

The conversation quickly turned to TRA’s successful tax collection strategies, which Misawa praised for creating a favourable environment for foreign investors.

“Your achievements are vital for attracting investment to Tanzania,” he noted, highlighting the role of effective tax administration. Mwenda expressed gratitude for Japan’s support, sharing his vision for further cooperation.

“We look forward to exchanging best practices, especially in tax administration, to enhance our efficiency,” he stated. Misawa proposed a formal exchange programme where TRA officials could visit Japan to learn about its tax systems.

“This collaboration will strengthen our ties and promote mutual growth,” he added. As the meeting wrapped up, both leaders felt a renewed sense of optimism for the future.

They agreed to prioritise ongoing collaboration, laying the groundwork for a strong partnership between Tanzania and Japan that promises prosperity for both nations. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
