MEXICO CITY, Jan 6 (NNN-XINHUA) — At least five people were killed after armed people opened fire in a bar in Villahermosa, capital of Mexico’s southeastern Tabasco state, state authorities confirmed.
Following the incident on Saturday night, “state and federal forces have deployed an operation to search for those responsible for the murder by gunfire of five people” in the bar in Villahermosa’s Tamulte neighborhood, state government spokesperson Fernando Vazquez Rosas told reporters.
The spokesperson said seven people were also injured in the shooting, and an investigation has been launched.
Tabasco has seen a rise in homicides since December 2023, showed official data. — NNN-XINHUA
