MANILA, Jan 2 (NNN-PNA) – A private motorboat capsized and sank, off the coast of Northern Samar province, in the central Philippines, leaving two people dead, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said, today.
In a report, the PCG said, the boat carrying six passengers and two crew members, sank on Monday, off Laoang town.
Initial investigation showed that the motorboat departed from Laoang and was going to Batag Island, when the accident occurred.
“The motorboat capsized after being struck by large waves amid rough sea conditions,” the report read.
Rescuers managed to pull four passengers and the two crew members out of the water, while the other two bodies were recovered on the shoreline of the town.– NNN-PNA
